1 〔漢詩の〕 a Chinese quatrain [poem of four lines].

2 〔言葉に詰まること〕

～する break off (short) 《in one's speech》; find nothing to say.

●小学生からの鋭い質問に首相は一瞬絶句した. For a moment the Prime Minister was thrown [rendered speechless] by the pointed question the elementary schoolboy [schoolgirl] asked him.
